Employment with BP

MAY 1988 – SEPT 2009

I operated in a variety of different business and activity management roles over 20+ years with the company in the North Sea. These ranged from planning & control management for new oil & gas field developments and operations, delivering business and company integration projects, directing the commercial and development activities of the Dutch production and storage business, supporting the North Sea leadership in managing performance delivery. My final position was as Head of Finance for the North Sea Infrastructure Division, providing all financial and commercial support for a division comprising Southern North Sea gas fields, UK onshore oilfields and the UK pipelines & terminals operations of BP.

Employment with KPMG

AUG 1978 – APRIL 1988

I trained in audit work and subsequently led and managed a large number of company audits before specialising in IT systems work. In this role I acted as an external consultant to clients in retail, financial services, oil and gas and local government.

The experience gained in this time provided an excellent financial and business grounding essential to much of what I have subsequently done. Working with clients across different sectors allowed me to build an understanding of how many different types of organisation operate: this is of great value to me within my own business.
